Promise Ekeh
Founder, Empower Her - Empower the Future
This initiative is inspired by her journey as a girl born in Warri, Nigeria, who dared to dream beyond limitations. Growing up in a modest background, she encountered challenges that many young girls in underdeveloped communities face—limited resources, societal expectations, and the absence of role models in STEM. However, she was determined to rewrite her story.
Through perseverance and a passion for learning, she overcame these barriers. From studying geology at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) to securing the highly competitive Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Niger Delta scholarship award and earning a distinction in Petroleum Geoscience at Imperial College London, her journey has reinforced her commitment to creating opportunities for young girls in underserved communities. She wants to ensure they have the mentorship, resources, and inspiration she once longed for.

Today, as a Data Geoscientist at Viridien in London, UK, Promise specialises in data science and machine learning applications in the energy sector. Beyond her professional career, she is a passionate advocate for digital literacy, women in STEM, and youth empowerment. Through her YouTube channel, which features over 120 videos, 2,000+ subscribers and 30,000+ views, she simplifies complex technology concepts for learners worldwide, making technology more accessible to aspiring innovators.

Throughout her career, Promise has led several impactful initiatives:
Promise’s dedication to mentorship and education has transformed the lives of many aspiring tech professionals. Through Empower Her – Empower the Future, she is paying it forward—ensuring that young girls in Warri and beyond have access to the skills, mentorship, and confidence they need to thrive in the digital world.
Her vision is clear: To empower the next generation of female innovators and leaders in technology, shaping a more inclusive and prosperous future for Africa and beyond.
